Dental practices of the past often put their patients through a complicated and uncomfortable process for their first visit. At our practice, you can expect the following for your first visit with us:
Please arrive at our office 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to fill out needed new patient paperwork (which we keep to a minimum), and to grab a complimentary beverage.
If it would be more convenient for you, we invite you to download, print, and complete our new patient forms to expedite the paperwork when you arrive for your appointment. Adobe Acrobat Reader is needed to download these forms.
During your initial appointment, your hygienist will take comfortable and fast digital x-rays, then check your teeth for decay using a laser-assisted detection device called Diagnodent®. Diagnodent technology discovers decay before it can be seen by the naked eye and even before x-rays show it. The process is painless and very helpful to us as we do our best to keep treatment conservative.
Your hygienist will also measure your gums to determine which type of dental cleaning is right for you. After your cleaning or periodontal (gum) therapy, one of our dentists will sit down with you, as well, to look over your records, examine your mouth, and take the time to discuss any dental concern you may have.
Since we do not double book appointment times, your hygienist and dentist will always have adequate time reserved for you. We hope you leave every visit feeling fully informed about your dental health and treatment options without being rushed.
If a patient needs additional dental treatment, such as a filling, and wants to get the process started immediately following the new patient appointment, we are able and pleased to accommodate that in the majority of cases. This enables us to fix problems before they get worse, at the same time as saving you more trips to our office. When more extensive dental work is needed, we'll talk you through your treatment and financial options and your schedule at the end of your cleaning visit.
